Although he did not formally announce it until recently, the program’s new general manager, Courtney Morgan, was on the same plane as Alabama’s athletic director and new football head coach, Kalen DeBoer.
As stated in the official university statement,
Morgan will oversee and oversee the day-to-day operations of the personnel and recruiting departments in addition to overseeing the roster management for the Crimson Tide. He will help with prospect communication and head coach film evaluations in addition to transfer portal evaluations. Morgan is also in charge of internal brand management for Alabama football.
Morgan has long been associated with DeBoer, having served in the same capacity as the head coach at Washington, Fresno State, and San Jose State in 2019. Morgan is therefore acquainted with DeBoer’s preferred method of program management.
All DeBoer could say about Morgan was positive.
“Courtney is essential to our program,” DeBoer said. “He is an essential part of our search for and evaluation of high school and transfer portal talent. He has great connections all around the country. As a vital part of our objectives at Alabama, I am ecstatic to have the chance to welcome Courtney to Tuscaloosa.
As a member of the Alabama program, Morgan takes seriously his obligation to protect DeBoer’s system and further the goals of the Crimson Tide.
“I love working with Coach DeBoer, and I am excited to uphold the standard that Alabama football has created,” Morgan said. As a staff, we all have the same goal, and we trust Coach DeBoer’s formula for success. Hard work and trust are the main ingredients for success, therefore I always arrive at work ready to work and have a lot of faith in Coach DeBoer’s approach to program development.
As a staff member who will work with players on the roster and establish relationships and connections with recruits and their families, you should expect Morgan to be heavily active in the recruiting trail.
