Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff Declines Contract Extension with the Lions
Quarterback Jared Goff’s four-year, $212 million contract extension with the Detroit Lions was officially announced on Thursday. The signal-caller also held a media meeting to go over the historic agreement.
The NFL record for the greatest signing bonus ($73 million) and first-year cash ($80.3 million) was surpassed by Goff’s four-year agreement. Former NFL exec Andrew Brandt said that Goff is barely shy of the record for money over three years (153.6 million).
During his press conference, Goff disclosed that the deal included a no-trade clause, which is something we were unaware of.
Goff stated, “Security was the main focus.” “You can debate the numbers and other things, but I never really worried too much about that,” the speaker said. The security and the no-trade provision were what it was.
Naturally, Goff’s initial destination in Detroit was the result of a trade involving the Los Angeles Rams. The seasoned signal-caller need not worry about it happening here from now on.
He remarked, “This city will always have a special place in my heart and means so much to me.” “All I want is to succeed for them. For these fans, I want to win.
Goff’s contract extension is well-earned; over the previous three years, he has helped the Lions emerge from the basement and become one of the league’s top teams.
Goff will live on in Motown legend status if he can secure the coveted Super Bowl for the team.
