On Tuesday, CC Sabathia received the call informing him that he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The former pitcher quickly made it plain whose team he wanted to see on his plaque in the Hall of Fame: the New York Yankees.

Sabathia explained his motivation for wanting to play for the Yankees in a forceful manner.

“This is the Bronx, home.” I guess I’ll never leave the Bronx, where I’ve found a home. According to Bryan Hoch, Sabathia stated, “I believe it’s only fitting.”

The Yankees are the team that makes the most sense for Sabathia to represent, based on his career statistics. He pitched for the Yankees for 11 of his 19 seasons in Major League Baseball.

After being selected by Cleveland in the draft, Sabathia played for the Indians for his first seven and a half seasons. He made three All-Star teams with the AL Central team and earned a Cy Young Award with them. However, he achieved more of his stats when playing for the Yankees, where he won a World Series and spent 11 seasons. The California native now calls the Bronx and the Yankees home.

According to Sabathia, deciding to wear a Yankees cap wasn’t particularly difficult.
