Malik Nabers of the Giants is a strong contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In the end, the New York Giants took a different route despite a lot of talk linking them to a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft.
There were rumors circulating in the hours before the draft that the Giants were putting a lot of effort into moving up in the first round. The Giants chose to select LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall rather than moving up or down in the draft.
When Pro Football Focus released their list of the best contenders for the Rookie of the Year Award, Nabers was, in fact, ranked fourth.
4. New York Giants, WR Maliki Nagers
Like Marvin Harrison Jr. in Arizona, Nabers has an easy route to lead the Giants in targets following last season’s tie for the club top with just 76 between Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson. Because of his 30 missed tackles caused after the catch, which ranked fourth among wide receivers eligible for the draft, Nabers was considered by some to be the top receiver in this class.
Nabers joins a Giants offense that lacks playmakers following running back Saquon Barkley’s departure. He will undoubtedly rank as the top receiver and, ideally, be Daniel Jones’ main target.
In 2014, the Giants had already selected Odell Beckham Jr., an LSU receiver who went on to earn Offensive Rookie of the Year.
