INJURY UPDATE: Head Coach Of New York Yankees Provide Positive Update On Injured Slugger….
This New York Yankees slugger is making progress in his rehabilitation, which bodes well for when he should be back on the pitch.
Manager Aaron Boone reported that on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, injured designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton hit, tossed and ran a little. With a left hamstring injury, Stanton was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 23. It is anticipated that he would miss a minimum of four weeks. This estimated timeline seems reasonable so far. Boone remarked, “I think it’s conceivable, again we’ll see how he does,” in reference to Stanton’s schedule. “I actually just had a conversation with him, and I believe he feels encouraged. Thus far, things have gone rather well as he had anticipated. “We’ll see,” the captain went on.
It appears that he is headed in the right path, but we’ll have to wait and see how the next seven or ten days go.
The 34-year-old missed 43 games due to a problem in his left hamstring that he also experienced the previous season. When the slugger came back from this illness, he was not the same at the plate. With a.695 OPS in 101 games, he batted just.191 at the end of the season. Stanton’s ability to smash 24 home runs in 2023 was his lone bright spot.
With 18 home runs and a.745 OPS in 69 games this season, Stanton appeared to be fully recovered offensively for the Yankees, primarily hitting from the cleanup position. He has struggled with injuries throughout his lengthy career, though, and was unable to escape them. Despite coping with injuries and subpar play, the Yankees managed to finish 14-13 despite a difficult June. A lineup that has appeared to be very top heavy this season beyond Anthony Volpe, Juan Soto, and Aaron Judge suffered a severe blow with the loss of Stanton, who has provided a huge boost for their offence.
By the end of July, New York hopes to have Stanton returned from the Illinois. He is currently moving in the proper direction.
