Emma Raducanu Tennis Legend Decided to Quit

Emma Raducanu of Britain withdrew from the French Open barely a day before qualifying was scheduled to start.

Despite not having an injury, the 21-year-old has made the decision to forego Roland Garros in order to practice and give herself a “chance to keep fit for the rest of the year.”

Raducanu’s rating was insufficient to secure a direct admission into the main draw of the clay-court Grand Slam, and she was not granted a wildcard.

The French Open will begin on May 26 and qualifying will begin on Monday.

In order to give myself an opportunity to stay fit for the remainder of the year, I will use the time to complete a healthy block before the grass and next hard-court seasons, according to the 2021 US Open champion.

The Briton hasn’t competed since suffering a setback in the Madrid Open’s opening round earlier this month.

Raducanu declared herself “mentally and emotionally exhausted” following her straight-set loss to qualifying player Madrid Open Carle of Argentina.

Since then, Raducanu has been working out at the National Tennis Centre in London; nonetheless, it’s reported that the way she lost that badly damaged her confidence following a stellar start to

the season of clay.

She advanced to the quarterfinals in Stuttgart, where she was narrowly beaten by world number one Iga Swiatek, after Great Britain defeated France to qualify for November’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

After undergoing wrist and ankle surgery last year, Raducanu is currently ranked 212th in the world, but his protected status of 103 allowed him to qualify as third alternate for the French Open.

The first WTA event of the grass-court season, the Nottingham Open, is held next month; she has not announced that she would participate.
