Anthony Joshua insists he is still at the top of the boxing world, despite the fact that the last few years have not been easy for the former world heavyweight champion.

Anthony Joshua insists he has “never left” the top spot in the heavyweight boxing rankings as he prepares for his matchup with Francis Ngannou in March.

Joshua will fight former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.

After losing the WBO, IBF, and WBA belts to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, two-time world champion Anthony Joshua was defeated by the Ukrainian in their rematch the following year.

Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou discuss their objectives and excitement for their fight on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.

Since then, he has prevailed over Jermaine Franklin, Otto Wallin, and Robert Helenius. In his most recent fight, which took place on December 23, his corner decided to pull Wallin after five rounds.

“I’ll stay there indefinitely. Since the day I put on these gloves for the amateurs, I have been able to keep my place at the top of both the amateur and professional scenes.

The situation is what it is; it is the truth; and I think it will remain that way until I decide I can no longer fight.

The talk of a fight began as Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou squared off ahead of their match on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.

Promoter Frank Warren hinted that the winner of Joshua vs. Ngannou may face the victor of Tyson Fury vs. Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship on Monday at the London news conference when the bout was formally declared.

When questioned by Sky News about whether boxing belts still mattered or if matchups were the only thing that mattered, Joshua said, “I think that there is that element as well because for the viewers at home they just want to witness matches.” The mindset is one of “I don’t care, just get the fight done” at the same time.

Advice from Anthony Joshua Oleksandr Usyk will defeat Tyson Fury, but he wants to face another Britishman.

“I think you will never know what it’s like or what it feels like to be a champion until you become one because belts are something you set out to attain as a young child. Football players receive trophies, boxers receive titles, and tennis fans receive awards.

When Ngannou tries to make AJ seem “average,” Joshua responds, “You are free to express yourself.”

When the 37-year-old Ngannou defeated Tyson Fury in a 10-round non-title bout in 2023 on his professional debut, it was one of the biggest surprises in boxing history. But Fury won by a contentious split decision.

Before their next encounter, Ngannou said of Joshua, his opponent, “Maybe make him appear ordinary.”

When extraordinary people gather together, sometimes they just look average.

Of course, I think I can beat him. I called for the combat and came over here because I truly wanted to beat him. I have been pushing for those conflicts for the past four years. I’m not just here to show up; I’m here to take charge.
