Zach Arnett, 38, moves from one set of Rebels to another as he was an analyst at Ole Miss for the 2024 season. He joined Lane Kiffin’s staff in Oxford after serving as head coach at Mississippi State in 2023, where he led the Bulldogs to their first game after the tragic death of head coach Mike Leach in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Prior to his final year in Starkville, Arnett served as MSU’s defensive coordinator for three seasons from 2020–22. His aggressive scheme became a hallmark of the Bulldogs’ defensive units.Watson, Forbes, and Emerson were also named All-Americans under Arnett’s guidance. Arnett, who has experience in the Mountain West, was San Diego State’s defensive coordinator for two seasons, from 2018 to 2019. As SDSU finished the 2019 season second in rushing defence, third in scoring defence, fourth in interceptions, fourth in first downs allowed, sixth in total defence, and eighth in takeaways, he guided the Aztec defence to top-10 rankings nationally in seven categories. The Aztecs were among the best in the country in Arnett’s first season as coach, finishing seventh against the run, 13th in first downs given up, and 21st in total defence. Overall, Arnett spent nine seasons at SDSU where he started as a graduate assistant (2011-13) and later became linebackers coach (2014-17).
