Shattock family provide update on “critical” premiership Lion…

Former Brisbane Lions AFL player Aaron Shattock, aged 44, remains in a critical but stable condition following a serious accident on his property on December 22, 2024. While operating an excavator, the machinery rolled over, trapping him underneath and causing severe chest injuries. Emergency services utilized hydraulic rescue tools to free him, after which he was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Shattock was placed in an induced coma and underwent emergency surgery. His family has expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, “Your compassion has granted him—and our entire family—the strength and hope to continue this fight.”

The AFL community has rallied around Shattock, with former teammate Michael Voss describing him as “a ripping good fella” and “an outstanding teammate.” Shattock’s local club, Labrador Australian Football Club, highlighted his significant contributions since 2007 as a player, coach, and committee member, noting, “His passion for our club is unmatched, and his presence is deeply valued.”
