Barcelona MotoGP test Result…..

Marc makes his factory Ducati debut while Alex Marquez wins the Barcelona MotoGP test.
In the first official test for the 2025 season, teams had the opportunity to gather crucial data to refine their new motorcycles.

Maverick Vinales, a recent Tech3 KTM acquisition, finished 12th fastest, but at the beginning of hour six, his new teammate Enea Bastianini crashed his RC16 at Turn 5.

Bastianini finished 16th out of 24 runners after completing the test on a spare bike.

Recently retired Aleix Espargaro also made his maiden appearance as a Honda test rider in Barcelona, finishing 14th overall and ahead of Joan Mir of HRC.

Fermin Aldeguer of Gresini finished in 20th place, one position ahead of Ai Ogura of Trackhouse and two places ahead of Somkiat Chantra of LCR, making him the day’s fastest rookie.

After being involved in wrecks within the first three hours of running, all three riders recovered and gained significant miles as they started getting ready for 2025.

As he recovers from surgery, VR46 rider Fabio di Giannantonio, one of the three riders who will compete with the new Ducati GP25 in 2025, was once again out of action.

Michele Pirro, a Ducati tester, essentially took his place. She also tested a new two-way radio communication system that Dorna has been developing.

While his older brother Marc Marquez finished his first race with the factory Ducati team, Gresini rider Alex Marquez set the pace in Tuesday’s post-season MotoGP test in Barcelona.

The younger Marquez jumped to the top of the list early on with a 1m40.006s flier, and he held the lead for most of the seven-hour practice at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Before two-time MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia took the lead with a time of 1m39.398s in the third hour, new factory KTM rider Pedro Acosta had a brief period at the front in the morning.

After Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo eliminated Bagnaia from the lead, the younger Marquez regained the lead in the fourth hour with a time of 1m38.803s.

As the track quickly cooled down in the evening, the Spaniard’s previous performance remained unmatched despite damaging his new GP24 bike in a collision at Turn 7 in the penultimate hour.

Quartararo’s previous effort of 1m39.199s, which put him 0.396s behind Marquez’s pace, also allowed him to maintain second place on his Yamaha M1.

Throughout the day, Bagnaia rode three different Desmosedici bikes, finishing two tenths behind in third place. In addition to the 2025-spec GP25 and his race-winning GP24 bike, the Italian had a hybrid of the two bikes that he could test in Barcelona.

After losing the 2024 title to Jorge Martin last weekend, he gave up the right to use the #1 plate and participated in the test using his previous bike number, 63.

Marc Marquez was one of the day’s main attractions. After a year of racing for the satellite Gresini team, he made his debut with Ducati’s factory squad as Bagnaia’s teammate.

On Tuesday, the six-time MotoGP champion completed 49 circuits and, with 15 minutes remaining, jumped to fourth place on the list with a final effort of 1m39.454s.

Marquez had many Desmosedici specs available for testing, just like his new teammate Bagnaia. However, he made his track debut in 2025 with the new GP25.

Like his race attire, his bike had a bright red paint job and minimal sponsorship branding.

The top Aprilia racer in fifth place was Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez, while Brad Binder surged to sixth place with a late improvement on his factory KTM.

Franco Morbidelli beat Alex Rins’ Yamaha by 0.003 seconds to finish seventh in his debut with VR46, the squad owned by his coach Valentino Rossi.

LCR rider Johann Zarco finished as the top Honda rider in 10th place, while Acosta finished his debut day with KTM’s primary team in ninth place.

The recently crowned MotoGP champion Martin made his eagerly anticipated debut with Aprilia on Tuesday morning. Later in the day, he switched to its new prototype after testing the waters with its race-winning 2024-spec RS-GP.

With the exception of a sluggish low-side collision at Turn 5, Martin’s day went rather well. He finished 11th with a fastest time that was just over a second slower than Alex Marquez’s, having completed 77 laps.
