Shayna Texter-Bauman, the only woman in the American Flat Track Series, holds the record for the most wins in the AFT Singles division. Standing just five feet tall, she’s fearless on her motorcycle and has proven herself a champion both on and off the track. Texter-Bauman didn’t start racing until she was around 10 or 11, influenced by her brother Cory and their father Randy, a flat track racer and owner of Lancaster Harley-Davidson. Her journey in racing began early, despite initially focusing on soccer with dreams of following in Mia Hamm’s footsteps.
Her path shifted significantly after her father’s death in 2010, which left her and her brother to navigate their racing careers without his support. Despite her mother’s initial reluctance about Shayna’s racing career, she eventually became her biggest supporter. Texter-Bauman’s first race win on September 10, 2011, in Knoxville, Iowa, was a significant milestone, linking her family’s legacy with motorsports.
She juggled her racing career with her education, earning a bachelor’s degree in sports management. Texter-Bauman plans to stay involved in the sport long-term, with ambitions to mentor young riders once she retires from racing.
In 2019, she and her brother made history as the first siblings to win Progressive AFT main events on the same day. Although the Texas half-mile competition was postponed, Texter-Bauman continues to race fiercely, seeing herself as a competitor first and a female second. She’s determined to pave the way for more women in the sport and continues to inspire with her championship record and dedication.
