Injuries to their starting rotation are nothing new for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rookie right-hander River Ryan took the mound on Saturday in an attempt to help Los Angeles defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates in the series.

His forearm stiffness caused him to be removed after just a few innings. The squad had assumed that he would just go on the injured list, but suddenly their worst nightmares have materialised.

Ryan’s stay for the rest of the season is confirmed by manager Dave Roberts… On social media, Juan Toribo of MLB.com broke the story.

Due to an elbow injury, River Ryan’s season is over, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. They’re still trying to decide what to do next.

Ryan has been really hitting his stride with Los Angeles, which has added much-needed fire to the rotation. The rookie right-hander made four starts with the Dodgers and went 1-0 with an ERA of 1.33.

Before leaving the game, he was dominating the Pirates and outdueling their best pitcher, Paul Skenes. Ryan went 4.2 innings without giving up a run and struck out four batters before leaving the game.
