The Chicago Bears selected Caleb Williams as the first overall choice in 2022 to replace Justin Fields. Williams won the Heisman Trophy and is expected to develop into one of the league’s most formidable quarterbacks in the future.
However, it appears that he does not think as highly of the 28-year-old Mahomes as some do, as he selected Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams as the top two quarterbacks in the NFL.
Williams recently commented, “I mean, he’s unbelievable,” on Up & Adams. “He’ll go play action in a couple of plays, like.
He will toss the ball right behind his head (with the ideal touch and velocity) as if he’s got the linebacker on a string and wants him to go here.
“After seeing Stafford’s NFL Top 100 ranking, I was not pleased. There aren’t many quarterbacks who play the position better than Matthew Stafford, in my opinion.
Why does Aaron Rodgers rank first?
The 2010 Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers, of the Green Bay Packers, was hurt in the first quarter of his Jets debut at MetLife Stadium against the Buffalo Bills, and he was sidelined for the entirety of 2023.
Even yet, Williams’ opinion of the 40-year-old quarterback hasn’t changed despite Mahomes winning Super Bowl LVIII with the Chiefs after a year away, and he was crowned the greatest NFL quarterback.
