French swimming prodigy Léon Marchand thrilled a raucous home crowd in La Défense Arena outside Paris tonight, winning an astonishing fourth gold of the Summer Games.
It’s been a great day for the host nation: A trio of French riders pulled off a thrilling sweep of the podium by finishing 1-2-3 in BMX riding, while judo legend and opening ceremony torchbearer Teddy Riner won a record fourth gold.
Morocco advanced to the men’s soccer semifinals after beating the US, 4-0, marking a brutal end to a fun run for the US squad. Elsewhere, American sprinting star Sha’Carri Richardson eased to an impressive win in her women’s 100m heat, as her Olympic redemption tour begins.
The top US stars have largely lived up to the hype at the Paris Games, with Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky further cementing their legacies Thursday.
