latest Bo Bichette injury update could take him off the market for good
It’s the same calf that has caused Bichette’s problems all season. After returning from a nine-game absence due to a painful right calf on June 24, he missed the final four games prior to the All-Star break due to a right calf fascia strain sustained on July 10 during a game against the San Francisco Giants.
It’s obvious that the Blue Jays are no longer competitive in the American League East, and before the July 30 trade deadline, they will be dismantled for parts.
Due to his injury, Bo Bichette might never be traded.
Although Bichette has recently surfaced as a contender in trade rumoures, this injury may prevent him from being discussed in any future trade talks. Bichette had an MRI on Friday and was put on the 10-day disabled list.
The spate of calf injuries will probably compel Toronto to put Bichette on the injured list for longer than the required 10 days, even if the MRI is negative.
Regardless of the injury, it’s uncertain if the Blue Jays would have agreed to trade Bichette. Bichette is currently under contract with the organization through 2025, and it has been rumored that Toronto has informed teams that they will not move any players who are under control after 2024.
Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins appeared to be against dealing Bichette at the beginning of June.
