The campaign of Head Coach Mike McCarthy’s Ascent to Success.
Step One on the Path to Glory
Mike McCarthy joined the Green Bay Packers as head coach in 2006. It was at this point that Coach McCarthy began to create something truly unique up north. Brett Favre was the starting quarterback for Mike McCarthy, and Aaron Rodgers was his youthful backup. After Brett Favre’s lacklustre season, the team finished 8-8, but Coach McCarthy recognised potential in Aaron Rodgers that would soon be realised. Coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Brett Favre enjoyed a fantastic season the next year, finishing 13-3 overall. The group advanced to the Conference Final but was defeated by the New York Giants.
When Aaron Rodgers took over as head coach in 2008, the team’s record at the end of the season was 6-10. 2008 was not a good year for McCarthy. 2009 saw a turnaround led by Mike McCarthy and the Packers, who finished with an 11-5 record. For Coach Mike McCarthy, the 2010 season was the apex of his career. With Aaron Rodgers leading the club, they went on to win the Super Bowl at Arlington, Texas’ Cowboys Stadium.
