Tennessee’s Nashville Georgia has received a commitment from Christian quarterback Jared Curtis, the top-ranked player in the 2026 college football recruiting class, according to his mother, who spoke with 247Sports. This weekend, the family is returning to Athens to spend time with head coach Kirby Smart and his staff.

“Coach Kirby was just informed,” Barbara Curtis stated. “We can’t stop ourselves from smiling.”

Curtis selected Georgia over a number of other states, including Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Curtis previously stated what jumps out as “just the way all their coaching staff is together and how are they are helpful to one other and I know they’re settled and not going anywhere.”

He has already spent a number of early visits to the UGA campus.

He’s become close to two people: Mike Bobo and Montgomery VanGorder.

Curtis previously remarked, “Just the way they’ll develop me as a person and player and the people around me will always help me get to the next level.”

This is a condensed assessment on Curtis from this past August, provided by Andrew Ivins, director of scouting at 247Sports:

“A big-armed, moxie-possessed quarterback prospect. began playing football as a running back before being evaluated for a position behind center. Capable of hitting deep balls with ease and has a tendency to connect on many vertical shots. Moreover, possesses exceptional timing while hitting breaking routes over the center.

“Can’t be considered a real dual-treat player, but he can use his legs to move the chains and go off-script when the pocket opens up. Camp clip demonstrates both touch and pace.

“He appears to be one of the best signal-callers early in the 2026 cycle, but he needs to continue improving and learn how to analyze the intricate defenses he will encounter at the next level. considering his diverse skill set, likely to succeed in a number of different offensive systems.”

Curtis had two excellent seasons to start his high school career. As a junior, he ran for an additional 543 yards and 13 touchdowns while throwing for 2,522 yards and 25 touchdowns against just nine interceptions.
