The 27-year-old Gaints defensive lineman, a fantastic teammate, unexpectedly died of cancer.
The New York Giants are one of the most successful and prestigious teams in NFL history. There is surely a large pool of players to take into account when creating a top 50 list of all time, as this is one of the few teams that can truly say that they have been in the NFL since the beginning.
It’s evident who leads the club and that the top player on the list is a defensive player; the Giants have a history of producing top defensive players.
But who intervenes between 2 and 50? Let’s investigate this.Al Blozis only played with the Giants for two seasons, but even with that short tenure, he played exceptionally well, earning a spot on this list.
You know, in the past, it was common for athletes to put their careers on hold or suspend them in order to serve their country; during World War II, Blozis was one such player.
Although he lost his life while serving his country, he had the opportunity to return from the war with an incredible career, having made the Pro Bowl in just his second season as a Giants offensive lineman.
I felt compelled to share his story, even though it’s on my list and maybe someone else should have made it.
