Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, has become the highest-paid NFL coach after agreeing to a new, extended contract.
In 2013, the sixty-six-year-old took over as head coach of the Chiefs following thirteen years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has since guided Kansas City to three Super Bowl triumphs, the most recent being in February against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs, who are now aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl victory, have hired Reid. The team’s president, Mark Donovan, and general manager, Brett Veach, have also agreed to new long-term contracts.
Veach’s deal is good until the end of the decade, according to the NFL Network, while Reid’s is good until 2029, the year he turns 70. Reid is purportedly the highest-paid coach in the NFL right now.

Mark, Brett, and Andy have accomplished historic success together, and we are happy that they will remain in their roles for many years to come,” said Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt.
“As a team, Mark, Brett, and Andy comprise one of the best leadership groups in professional sports; individually, they represent the best in the NFL at their respective positions. They have been excellent leaders for this organization both on and off the field, therefore we are happy about their continued success in the years to come.
Reid continued, saying, “I am incredibly grateful to Clark and the entire Hunt family for giving me the opportunity to lead this illustrious company. For the past eleven years, my wife Tammy and I have enjoyed living in Kansas City. The neighborhood has embraced us and during our time here, we have witnessed the growth of our family by the addition of all 12 of our grandchildren.
“I express my gratitude to the players, coaches, and staff for giving their time to this endeavor. Numerous players on the field have made significant contributions to our triumph and the Super Bowl. I would also like to thank my agent, Bob LaMonte. Chiefs Kingdom is a special place, and I consider myself fortunate to be here.
In Kansas City, Reid may have a significant impact, especially with Patrick Mahomes leading the way. The three-time Super Bowl MVP, who is only 28 years old, is expected to dominate the field for many more seasons. Many people rank him as one of the top quarterbacks of his generation.
