Korda said, “Oh my god, six.” The head-to-head Hannah and I had throughout the better part of the day is so intense right now that I can’t even properly compose myself. Although I didn’t play my best today, I gave it my all in the last nine holes.”
“It was just amazing to share the stage with Hannah.”
Even though Korda still has a long summer ahead of her, her six victories this summer have taken her very close to breaking the LPGA record for most wins in a season. In 1963, Mickey Wright achieved a record 13 wins.
She joins Babe Zaharis, Louise Suggs, and Lorena Ochoa as the only players to have won six times prior to June 1. Additionally, since Inbee Park in 2013, she is the only golfer to win six times in a single season.
She will now try to win the U.S. Women’s Open, an event she hasn’t won, for the seventh time in two weeks.
“Obviously, it’s on the top of my priority list,” she stated. “I just know that putting additional pressure on oneself never results in anything positive. I was just going to take things one shot at a time and remain in my bubble that week.”
She accepted the defeat with grace for Green.
