After receiving 10 penalty points, Magnussen says, “It’s been valuable to us.”

On the verge of a racing ban, Kevin Magnussen has questioned whether points should be deducted for specific infractions. In the 2024 Formula 1 season, Magnussen will have to sit out if he receives two more penalty points because he has crossed the barrier.

Last time out, Magnussen’s driving in Miami drew criticism. In addition to acknowledging that he did whatever it could to improve his teammate’s prospects of a points finish, the Dane hindered Lewis Hamilton’s progress by driving off track. While Magnussen acknowledges that he will now exercise greater caution, he still thinks it was worthwhile.

“A racial ban will occur next. My teammate’s support has been invaluable in these occasions where I had to step in. It’s therefore been rather useful to us. The regulations are not my favorite. I believe there is something worth examining there. Magnussen stated prior to the Imola Grand Prix, “And for myself, I’m on 10 points, so I have to be careful not to get a race ban.”

Track boundaries

Within Formula 1, track restrictions are a topic of significant debate. The Haas driver doesn’t think that breaking this rule should result in penalty points.”The knowledge that I may receive a racing suspension for exceeding certain white lines on a patch of asphalt…I’m not sure if it is correct, but those are the rules,” Magnussen said, going on to propose that the rules be modified.

“There are more races now than there were back when they were introduced, and I feel you can end up getting a race ban effectively for a very minor thing,” he stated.

Drivers will be prohibited from racing for 12 penalty points. Points are valid on the license for a full year. When there were fewer than 20 races in a season, the system was implemented. Formula 1 will visit 24 different tracks in 2024.
