9ers quarterback Brock Purdy has come a long way since making his Chiefs debut.
The quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, Brock Purdy, was selected with the final choice in the draft and has had an incredible journey thus far. Along the way, he shattered a number of records and became only the second Mr. Irrelevant in franchise and NFL history to reach the Super Bowl.
Purdy had an MVP-caliber season and eclipsed Jeff Garcia to become the 49ers’ all-time passing leader with 4,280 passing yards despite playing in just 16 games.
But before this weekend’s Super Bowl, the 2023 seventh-round pick had his fair share of eye-opening situations as he began his career.
Actually, Purdy’s first meaningful play came in the 49ers’ crushing season-ending loss to the Chiefs, where he completed with four of nine passes for 66 yards and an interception.
I won’t lie, it was moving rather swiftly. Speaking on Wednesday, Purdy said of the Chiefs game from the prior season, “I’m dropping back.” It was my very first NFL game. “Man, Chris Jones is there, but I’m not sure if he was in,” the person said. Frank Clark on the edge of collapse. Because of my fast-paced intellect and desire to finish reading books rapidly, I felt under pressure. To be honest, I very certainly did.
“In the end, I obviously flew one over Jauan’s head for an interception,” Purdy said. “I was able to make some throws and get into a rhythm on a few plays.” The game’s location was a little odd, though. It was out of reach as I tried to go in, take my first step, and start a rhythm.
